Carbon Stories is a development project that approaches the history of climate change through methods of cultural heritage education.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Human-induced global warming began with the Industrial Revolution. Coal started to be used in industry and steam engines, forests were cut down, and in the 20th century oil-powered combustion engines accelerated the heating. Climate change has a fascinating and long history that museums have not yet fully succeeded in conveying to their audiences.<\/p>\n The Mining Culture Centre and a World Heritage Site from northern France, the Slovenian Museum of Technology, as well as the environmental education organisation Neo Sapiens from Spain are also participating in the project led by the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas.<\/p>\n More information of the partners on their websites:<\/p>\n The project has received funding from the European Union\u2019s Erasmus+ programme. The project begins in November 2025 and continues for two years. During the project, the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas will implement new types of guided tours, events, and workshops. Carbon Stories will culminate in the Pitch Black History<\/i> exhibition, opening in spring 2027, which presents the history of Finland from the perspective of a warming climate. The project partners will likewise develop their own content to test the effectiveness of different presentation methods and share experiences. One of the project\u2019s outcomes will be climate education materials designed for industrial history museums.<\/p>\n Carbon Stories is funded by the European Union.
