Grumpy Girls – Class Struggles
13 Jun 2025 – 11 Jan 2026
The exhibition explores the links between the economy, social class and girlhood. It features original illustrations from artist Riina Tanskanen’s comic book Tympeät tytöt – Luokkakipuja – in English The Grumpy Girls – Class Struggles, published by Into Kustannus, 2025. The edgy cartoons question the ways in which the economy and society can be talked about, and in whose voice.
Riina Tanskanen, born in 1998, is an artist and social critic living in Tampere, Finland. The Instagram account Tympeät tytöt/Grumpy Girls has more than 60 000 followers and the first Grumpy Girls comic album in 2021 was a bestseller. The art project Tympeät tytöt/Grumpy Girls was awarded the State Award for Public Information in 2022.
